Art & Design Department at VIU

VIU, a unique university located on Vancouver Island, off the West Coast of Canada, overlooks the Strait of Georgia and the Coastal Mountains. The Nanaimo campus is home to the Visual and Applied Arts Department, a personal and inclusive learning environment featuring small class-sizes with teaching faculty readily available to assist students.

An important feature of the Department is the nature of our Art facilities in which students from Visual Arts, Interior Design and Graphic Design interact creatively within one exclusively designated building. The opportunity to exchange ideas and observe a variety of creative process fosters a unique and enriched environment. Through continued insistence upon high standards of quality, many of Visual and Applied Art Department graduates have received awards for their accomplishments and are now actively engaged in their respective fields.
