General Description

The Minor in Mathematics offers a wide variety of mathematics and statistics courses for students in degree programs such as science, engineering, commerce, education and the humanities. The Minor in Mathematics combines with Minors or Majors in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Computer Science.

Requirements for a Minor

Students must fulfill all Institutional B.Sc. Degree Requirements, including Degree English Requirements and courses listed below.

Years 1 & 2

Select either:
MATH 100 - (Calculus for Engineering and Physical Sciences I) and,
MATH 101 - (Calculus for Engineering and Physical Sciences II)
or,
MATH 110 - (Additional Calculus Topics) and,
MATH 121 - (Calculus I) and,
MATH 122 - (Calculus II)

MATH 123 - (Logic and Foundations)

MATH 200 - (Calculus of Several Variables)

MATH 211 - (Statistics I)

MATH 241 - (Linear Algebra)

Select at least one of the following:
MATH 223 - (Discrete and Combinatorial Mathematics) or,
MATH 251 - (Differential Equations)

Minimum of 18 credits of Mathematics courses numbered 300 or above.*

Note: Students may not obtain credit for MATH 151 or MATH 152 as part of a B.Sc. degree.
