Compensation and Insurance

Compensation

Employees of Vancouver Island University are covered by the Workers' Compensation Board of BC ( WorkSafeBC) if they are injured during the course of their employment.

Students on practicum or work experience attending programs or registered Industry Training Authority (ITA) apprentices attending a vocational program are covered by WorkSafeBC through the Ministry of Advanced Education. These students are considered employees of the crown.

Insurance

Vancouver Island University has coverage against liability and loss under the University, College, Institute Protection Plan (UCIPP). Additional information can be found under Risk Management on the Vice President, Administration & Finance website.
