BC Transit gives large learning tool to VIU

Students training to be heavy duty/commerical transport mechanics at Vancouver Island University have a large learning tool at their finger tips – a retired BC Transit bus. BC Transit CEO Manuel Achadinha, President and CEO of BC Transit and Bob Hall, BC Transit Manager of Fleet Maintenance, donated the bus to VIU on Tuesday.

Students in Vancouver Island University’s Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport Mechanics program have a large new learning tool thanks to BC Transit.

BC Transit donated a retired bus to VIU on Tuesday.

The 1988 MCI Classic went into service at BC Transit on January 1, 1989. BC Transit bus #8928 is road worthy but at the end of an extraordinary service life. It spent most of its 23 years on the road in Victoria, putting in 15 to 18 hour work days.

In its golden years, the 40 foot bus became part of BC Transit’s contingency fleet – a province-wide fleet...

Malaspina Art Society presents "Creative Expressions Brain Art Studio"

The May 'Malaspina Art Society' art show will be by the Powell River Brain Injury Society Creative Expressions Brain Art Studio. This show will feature the work of several artists. They each have their own distinctive style. There will be displays of painting both in watercolor and acrylic, sketching using various mediums, metal sculpture and other types of art sculpture.
