Tutoring Program
Do you know an adult who wants to learn reading and writing? Our free one-to-one Tutoring Program can help. Basic reading, spelling, writing, grammar, math, and English-as-a-Second Language help is available.
For more information, please call 248-3205, extension 233 and ask to speak with our Literacy Coordinator, Bronwyn Brown.
Help another adult learn basic literacy skills in our phonics-based Tutoring Program. Literacy Tutor Training classes are held on five Sundays beginning in the Fall and Spring. Led by our Literacy Instructors, tutors are taught a multi-sensory approach to teaching reading, spelling and writing. This course is offered free of charge to qualified volunteers.
We ask for a firm commitment of six months tutoring in exchange for this free course.
Tutors are asked to commit to teaching one adult student for at least six months, for four hours each week. Tutoring times are flexible – days, evenings or weekends.
If you have good English and/or Math skills and wish to volunteer your time, call Bronwyn Brown at 248-3205, extension 233 for more information. You will be contacted for an interview approximately two weeks before the training begins.
