The Theatre department at Vancouver Island University offers a two-year Theatre Diploma, a Technical Theatre Diploma and a Bachelor of Arts - Minor in Theatre. Students may wish to take one of the two-year Theatre diplomas, and then switch to the Bachelor of Arts -- Minor in Theatre for their final two years at VIU. To obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre (instead of a BA Minor) students will have to attend a university offering a Bachelor Fine Arts in Theatre. The University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and almost all Canadian universities will accept VIU's two-year programs as university transfer. Both Theatre Diploma students share a common first year. After completing the first year, students continue in either the Theatre Diploma or the Technical Theatre Diploma. There are three automotive programs offered at VIU. The Apprenticeship program is a four year block release program for apprentices who are working at an automotive repair facilty. They will come to VIU for 6 weeks in each of the four years they serve as an apprentice. The Entry Level Automotive Service Technician program prepares students with the skills and knowledge they will need to find a position as an Automotive Apprentice or as a trainee Partsperson or Service Advisor. The Career Technical Centre program is similar in content to the Entry Level program but it is offered to selected Mid Island Grade 12 students and taught by VIU instructors at our Automotive shop.
